Liftshare to work and save enough money to pay for a holiday!

Getting to work is one of those things most of us have to do, the commute into and from work back home is part of many peoples daily lives, and with the rising cost of fuel it is increasingly becoming more and more costly to do!

This is where a Liftshare could well become a great way to save money each and everyday you go to work, so much so that you could save enough to cover a holiday each year from your savings (view our examples below for these amazing savings)!

Do you know anyone else who lives near you (or on your route to work even) and works at the same place or somewhere in the same area as yourself? If so then you could arrange with them to liftshare, where by you can either take it in turns to drive to work (alternative days, or alternative weeks perhaps) or if only one of you is able to drive then the other person just pays you a fair amount for being the regular driver.

Obviously lift-sharing is really only feasible if both (or more) parties live and work in similar locations or at the same company and have similar working hours each day (9-5 for most people) and providing people can be a bit flexible to help make it work then you can easily get yourself a liftshare set up.

Not only will lift-sharing help save you money in travel costs such as fuel but also it is more environmentally friendly too as it will mean less cars doing the same journey.

As an example of how much you could potetially save by sorting a liftshare we have a few figures below (these are taken from the Liftshare.com website).

e.g. 1
Journey to work is 10 miles with a return trip of 10 miles, 5 days per week in a medium sized car (1.4 to 2 litre engine) with the current cost of fuel at £1.36 per liter.
Potential savings with a liftshare:
Sharing with:
1 person – £571.40 saving per year
2 people – £761.87 saving per year
3 people – £857.10 saving per year
4 people – £914.24 saving per year

e.g. 2
Journey to work is 20 miles with a return trip of 20 miles, 5 days per week in a large sized car (2 litre engine) with the current cost of fuel at £1.36 per liter.
Potential savings with a liftshare:
Sharing with:
1 person – £1,273.73 saving per year
2 people – £1,698.30 saving per year
3 people – £1,910.59 saving per year
4 people – £2,037.96 saving per year

As these figures show, a lift share can really add up in terms of helping save money, so much so that the savings could easily cover the cost of a holiday! Imagine that, basically getting a free holiday just for sorting a liftshare.

The more people you can get into your liftshare the greater the savings that you can make. It really is worth considering asking people in work if anyone wants to set up a liftshare. If you don’t know anyone yourself who you could share a lift with then have a look on Liftshare.com for other people in your area who are potentially looking for a similar liftshare to you.
